Delivering the world’s first low carbon process refinery

At Stanlow, in the heart of North West England, EET Fuels is leading the region’s industrial decarbonisation, eliminating 2.1 million tonnes of CO₂ by the end of the decade and creating one of Europe’s largest energy transition hubs.

As a strategic refinery, EET Fuels produces vital fuels today, around 16% of the UK’s road fuels, and is committed to transforming Stanlow into the world’s first low carbon process refinery.

Our decarbonisation journey

Since 2011, we’ve reduced our CO₂ emissions by 22% and we have a plan in place to reduce them significantly this decade. Focused on three key strategies, we’re setting a global benchmark for low emitting refineries and showcasing the path to industrial decarbonisation via:
ourplan-steps

Fuel Switching

We’re partnering with EET Hydrogen and EET Hydrogen Power to switch our fuel to low carbon hydrogen and power, significantly reducing our carbon footprint.

Carbon Capture

We’re implementing industrial-scale carbon capture to safely capture and remove CO₂ from our operations where fuel switching is not possible.

Energy Efficiency

We’re delivering high impact energy efficiency projects including the UK’s-first hydrogen-ready furnace, replacing three existing furnaces and reducing CO₂ emissions by circa 16,600 tonnes annually.

Performing today, transforming for tomorrow

From road to rail, aviation to industry, we’re powering today and leading tomorrow, with seamless and secure energy solutions that meet the UK’s changing energy needs now and in the future.
